In this session, we will highlight the diverse ways in which healthcare professionals can effect change beyond the traditional clinical setting. Dr Jack Underwood, WCAT Fellow and Sophie Muir, Chair and Founder of the Timothy Syndrome Alliance (TSA), will present their collaboration on CACNA1C, including successfully securing charity grant funding alongside campaigning and lobbying for changes in clinical practice. Dr Kimberley Kendall, Mental Health Mission Senior Clinical Fellow, will highlight her work with the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Wales to engage with Senedd members on severe mental illness to influence policy. Dr William Beharrell, Speciality Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Founder of the Fathom Trust, will reflect on the ethnographic fieldwork and community-led production of the Fathom Trust’s Good Practice Guide, with a focus on the process and opportunities to re-evaluate habits of sensory perception and embodied awareness that were identified through its eight-week green prescribing course, called Making Well, in partnership with Cardiff University. Join us to learn how we can drive positive change and improve health outcomes by engaging with charities, policymakers and the broader community.
