In this symposium we will firstly explore new data that specifically link neurodivergence to increased risk of pain and fatigue and complex stress sensitive conditions at the boundary of physical and mental health, such as Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS (Dr Jessica Eccles). We will consider and propose potential mechanisms that link body to brain in neurodivergent individuals (Dr Carolina Beaza-Valesco). We will consider, what it might mean to have altered pain sensitivity and some implications of misinterpreting these data and consider evidence from recent studies seeking to identify differences in pain processing in autistic adults (Dr David Moore).
