Nightmares, night terrors and dream enactment are common clinical presentations in brain disorders. Yet, how do you distinguish between them? The conditions can have a profound impact on sleep, mental health, daytime functioning/quality of life, and the future development of neurodegenerative disorders. In this interactive masterclass, we will describe three patients presenting with screaming in the night, and demonstrate the nuances which help differentiate between them, their underlying pathologies and approaches to treatment. Through patient interviews, excerpts from patient sleep studies, and multi-speciality discussion, you will learn how to take a structured approach to these disorders as they arise in clinical practice.
