Artificial or augmented intelligence (AI) is rapidly evolving and already being used in everyday practice. Once an expensive, experimental concept, we now use free tools to plan a holiday, track our workouts or develop training presentations. AI use is becoming more and more accessible – and pervasive.
This online event will help you get an overview of AI in the clinical space. From looking at AI in general medicine, case studies from psychiatrists using it within the NHS and discussions with industry experts, you will get a broad understanding of what AI can do for you and your service users. Beyond AI, this event will also look at how we as psychiatrists consider the ethical dilemmas of using AI in the complex field of mental health.
Learning objectives:
1. Understand the current and near-future possibilities of AI.
2. Look at examples in current NHS trusts of the use of AI by clinicians and trainees.
3. Look at some mental health applications of AI.
4. Consider the ethical conundrums of using AI. Can we safely use this technology for the good of staff and service users?
