As AI use increases in medicine there is a rise of applications for its use in psychiatry. From ambient voice technology to summarising complex medical data AI may help differentiate signal from noise. However there are growing concerns about AI getting things wrong ("hallucinating"), the ethical issues of using AI and concerns about privacy.

This roundtable will look at:

  • Some examples of reducing clinical burden with AI
  • Reflections from the first RCPsych AI conference
  • How AI can help as we do more things "virtually" and how we can still have user-led design in an AI world.
Learning objectives

In this session you will explore:

  • What can AI currently help with in psychiatry
  • A practical demonstration of ambient voice technology
  • Reflections from the first RCPsych AI conference and AI in virtual psychiatry from the chair of the Digital SIG
  • Keeping people at the centre when working with AI - people before technology.
