Climate change is a reality and the sooner we accept this, the better we can respond. Due to several conscious and unconscious factors, we often struggle to recognise our own impact on climate change and/or the impact of climate change on us. This struggle is reflected in extreme patterns of behaviour, ranging from complete denial and inaction to extreme anxiety, anger and maladaptive actions.

This module uses concepts from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy to enable learners to recognise the factors that contribute to unhelpful responses to climate change. It also outlines ways to develop positive approaches to climate change and sustainability.
