Overview

This is a highly controversial clinical area which psychiatrists need to know more about, in particular to understand the evidence better. The services provided to children and young people who are questioning their gender identity has been reviewed in England by Dr Hilary Cass, with her final report published earlier this year. And outside of the UK, international practice remains highly variable and rapidly changing.

The aim is to present the most up-to-date and highest quality evidence available on the topic. The speakers have experience in both basic science and in clinical outcome research and will review the evidence in the context of the Cass report.

Objectives
  • To learn more about the evidence for and impact of different treatment approaches for gender dysphoria in children and adolescents.
Speakers

Chair: Dr Lenny Cornwall, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust, Middlesbrough

Professor Riittakertu Kaltiala, Tampere University, Tampere, Finland

Dr Michael Biggs, Oxford University, Oxford
