Depression in children and adolescents Part 2.jpg

In this second module of our two-part series on depression in children and adolescents, we examine 'case management' (also mentioned in Part 1) with specific reference to medication.

We also:

  • consider additional specialist talking therapies,
  • take a closer look at the important issue of engagement,
  • revisit the subject of psycho-education; an area we covered in more detail in Part 1.
Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • recognise the delivery of ‘Brief Psychosocial Intervention’ (BPI) for children and adolescents with depression
  • identify the other current evidence-based treatments for moderate to severe depression, including combination treatments of medication plus psychological therapies
  • demonstrate understanding of the course and outcomes for depression
  • identify the whole depression care pathway
  • recognise the ‘lived experience of depression’.

This module is available as part of a CPD eLearning subscription.
