Recovery has become a dominant approach in mental health services in the UK. Recovery narrative is an individual's story of recovery from mental health problems and is an important recovery tool that can be presented to a live audience or via an audio or video recording. Recovery narratives are often used to personalise a recovery, to inspire hope, and to show that recovery can happen.

This module will help you to develop a comprehensive understanding of what recovery narrative is, its role in clinical practice, and the potential benefits for patients. The module will also familiarise you with the key debates around public recovery narratives and suggests alternative tools for when recovery narrative is not appropriate.
