Advanced Learning Courses
Advanced Learning Courses are in-depth, hybrid courses on specific subjects, such as Section 12/Approved Clinician course, Certification courses, or an International Diploma and usually include eLearning modules, discussion forums, reflections, assignments and live webinars. See each course’s description in our Events pages for your course’s specific format.
Advanced Learning Courses are booked via our Events team. Please see the Events pages on our website for available courses.
Once enrolled, you can find your Advanced Learning course in your My Learning site, on the Advanced Learning page on the eLearning Hub or via the link in your registration email.
To start a new thread, open the discussion task and select ‘Start a New Thread’. Enter a subject for your thread, complete the body of your post and ‘Post’ to post your thread. You can add attachments either by uploading a file or recording a video or an audio recording.
To respond to a thread, Click the thread title and select ‘Reply to Thread’. Enter your response in the field. You can add attachments either by uploading a file or recording a video or an audio recording. Select ‘Post’ to post your thread.
To subscribe to all threads in a discussion forum, select the ‘Subscribe’ button under the forum name, choose the ‘Send me an instant notification’ option and then ‘Subscribe’. Once you have subscribed, this will be indicated by a solid star. To subscribe to a specific thread in a discussion forum from the forum homepage, select the ‘Subscribe’ button under the thread title name instead.
Navigate to the tile containing the assignment details and select the link to the assignment. You will either need to upload a document, using the ‘Add a file’ button; you can add comments about your file in the box below or enter your text directly into a text box. Select ‘Submit’ once you have entered your assignment or uploaded your document.
You will receive joining instructions via email, prior to your webinar date. For any queries about webinars, please contact events@rcpsych.ac.uk.
On the homepage of your Advanced Learning course, you will see a course completion tracker. This lists all of the elements of the course with an indicator showing whether they are complete or incomplete. To complete the course, you will also need to attend any webinars or in-person events that are part of the course. You will receive reminder emails, if there are elements of the course that you have not completed.
Once you have completed an eLearning module or podcast and achieved 100% in the end-of-module test, or watched a webinar, you need to close the browser tab containing the eLearning. Your certificate will then be automatically generated in your ‘My learning’ account.
You can close the module, podcast or webinar once you have finished it and will be able to download your certificate as evidence of your activity. The certificate can take up to 5 minutes to be created. Once it has, you will receive an email and a notification in the top menu bar.
To access the certificate go to the ‘My learning’ area and select the 'Awards' link in the blue navigation bar, then select 'My Awards'. Select the award from the list or search using the search bar. Select the certificate and then select 'Generate certificate' at the bottom of the pop-up window. Your certificate will generate, and you can then download and save it.
Final certificates in Advanced Learning Courses will be issued once all elements of the course have been completed, including any live events or webinars. To check your progress, please see the course tracker in your course.
